Karatzas Marine Advisors & Co., the pre-eminent marine appraisals, valuations, marine surveys and shipping finance firm, is pleased to announce that its Founding Partner and CEO Mr Basil M Karatzas will be presenting at the Equipment Management Conference in Orlando, Florida, February 23rd – 25th, 2020. The conference is hosted by the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA), and this annual event is the flagship gathering of equipment management professionals in North America.
The presentation will cover recent developments in the marine industry both internationally and also domestically, including containerships, tankers, dry bulk, offshore and drilling equipment, as well as the ‘brown water’ market of inland barges, tugs and towboats and the ‘blue water’ segment of the Jones Act market. From recent emissions regulations overseas (IMO2020) to domestic regulations, with ‘SubChapter M’ most prominent among them, the presentation will endeavor to shine light on investment risks and also investment opportunities in this often under-estimated, but all to critical industry, the marine (or maritime or shipping) industry.

Basil M Karatzas is a Certified Marine Surveyor (CMS), Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), and also Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV); a member of several marine professional associations, including BIMCO and the Baltic Exchange. Basil has been educated at Harvard Business School (HBS) and at the Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University in Houston.
