MV "Kurt J Crosby" Description

The Vessel MV "Kurt J Crosby" is a Jones Act-qualified vessel, having been built in the U.S. in 2000 and flying the flag of the United States of America.  It's an ocean-going, triple-screw, anchor handling, tug-boat vessel with open stern, an anchor handling winch and having a static bollard pull rating of 129.75 short tons

The Vessel holds current certificates with both the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), and it's deployment ready worldwide.

The Vessel is a multi-faceted tug-boat vessel and it has built an exceptional reputation in the U.S. Gulf and Gulf of Mexico, primarily for the tow and repositioning of offshore rigs and platforms; the Vessel has undertaken ocean-tows internationally of heavy and  mission critical structures, and it has worked on reference projects including the salvage and removal of ship wrecks and casualties.  The Vessel routinely has worked on plug & abandonment projects in the U.S. Gulf.

The Vessel is fitted with three main engines and propellers: one at centerline (EMD 20-710-G7B, V-20, diesel engine shafted through a reverse / reduction gear to a four-blade, fixed pitch propeller in a Kort nozzle) and two outboard (EMD 16-645-E6, V-16 diesel engines shafted to KaMeWa Aquamaster, US 2011/3150, four-blade, fixed pitch Z-drive units). Based  on such arrangement, Vessel can act as both a conventional ocean-going tug-boat for ocean towing and also as an ASD tug-boat vessels where maximum maneuverability is required.
